22.5.2014, NIAR – Roma language should be regarded as European language

Editor in chief of “Journalistic-informative agency of Roma” Bajram Haliti said that Roma language is spoken across the Europe and that’s why it should be considered as European language and recognized as mother tongue to its speakers and those ones who want to revive/restore its usage as its mother tongue. Haliti, as the author of Serbian-Roma dictionary with grammar and orthographic advisor, added that he is not having for current goal standardization of Roma language, but that he is going towards the codification so that he could provide approach that is based on linguistic pluralism. Roma must have the possibility to choose bilingual education, so that they could learn both national and its own language. This should be something that their parents are choosing and not something that is imposed by the school system and others.
