“Although you had been elected in front of parties in which you are politically active, Soraya Post in Sweden and Damian Dragici in Romania, you are representing the voice of all Roma in Europe”, it is said in congratulation that was sent on behalf of NIAR by Bajram Haliti, president of the Journalistic-informative agency of Roma.
As the NIAR already transfered after publishing of official results on elections for European Parliament, Roma in Europe are having two its elected representatives in European Parliament: Soraya Post, deputy from Sweden and Damian Dragici, deputy from Romania.
Regarding this extremely important political shift for Roma, Bajram Haliti, NIAR’s editor in chief and its president sent congratulation to Roma deputies:
“On behalf of our Journalistic-informative agency of Roma and in my personal name I congratulate you on acquiring the confidence of voters. Although you had been elected in front of parties in which you are politically active, Soraya Post in Sweden and Damian Dragici in Romania, you are representing the voice of all Roma in Europe. We are convinced that you will be up to that task just like NIAR is working for decade with objective to hear the voice of Roma on media field.
We are free to offer you cooperation and exchange of information about actual issues of our population across the Europe so that you could present them in EU institutions”, it is said in congratulation.
Bajram Haliti, master of laws, journalist, publicist and one of the most significant Roma lexicographers, says in statement for NIAR: “Roma issues are the universal category in europe and it is irrelevant that elected parliamentarians are from Sweden and Romania, and not candidate from Croatia. Roma are a nation that is the most spread across the European continent, Europe is for them a mother country and Soraya and Damian are Roma parliamentarians.”
