“I was always against begging, but now I am thinking to remove every sheep and lamb until autumn, to put a bag on my shoulder…go from home to home and beg.”
Although it is talked about her as a non-typical Roma woman, it appears that Slavka Adzovic from Niksic will be forced to accept what she had been trying for entire life to escape from – the beggar bag.
Although she doesn’t own even a piece of land, Slavka is dealing with cattle breeding already for 20 years and she is holding the herd of 200 sheeps and lambs. However, since she bothers everyone, as she says, she is left with no option but to give up on sheeps and to accept begging.
“Since last year neighbors are disallowing me to pass with sheep on the road, and in May they submitted a petition and gave it to the Communal police. Communal police officers said that neighbors are interfered with sheep cot and to make sure that I return sheep as less as possible to that sheep cot. I don’t say that they are not interfered with sheep and smell, but where will I go. They are interfered with sheep smell, but they are not interfered with stink from the poured sewerage system. And that’s more dangerous than my sheep”, says visibly upset Slavka, while she points to the petition of neighbors.
